Bringing Thousands Together...Under Our Roof

For six magical weeks this fall, the Mandell JCC hosted Under One Roof: Welcoming the Stranger. Forty five agencies, organizations and houses of worship – representing thousands of people from our community – came together for the exhibition in the Chase Family Gallery with art canvases on the theme of “welcoming the stranger.” Jane Pasternak, Director of Family & Jewish Life, reports that close to 5000 people came to experience the many perspectives that were so meaningfully expressed. We are proud that the Mandell JCC was the sponsor of this unique community experience, and we are grateful to each of the organizations and the many people who worked on the canvases. Their efforts resulted in a powerful collective expression from our community and have conveyed the most precious of values. The committee, co-chaired by Monica Gold and Ellen Woodruff, is already talking about what will be “under one roof” next time.

Under One Roof was supported by a gift from Ellen and Stuart Roth. Posters and exhibit books were generously printed by Data-Mail (and are available at no charge while supplies last at the JCC). Thanks to Steven Laschever Photography and Jerry’s Artarama.
